Content Marketing World happens Sept 8 – 11, 2014 in Cleveland, Ohio. Here are 6 reasons to mark it on your calendar and grab your ticket to attend. (See the coupon code at the bottom of this post to get $100 off your registration.)
1] It’s the biggest content marketing event in the world.
For 2014, organizers are expecting over 2,000 attendees from more than 50 countries. Those numbers translate into fantastic networking opportunities with marketers, content producers and business executives from just about every industry you can name.
This video gives you a sense of the excitement and energy that you’re sure to feel in September:
2] Kevin Spacey is giving the closing keynote.
Kevin Spacey, the Oscar-winning actor of The Usual Suspects and American Beauty fame? The very same. I don’t know how conference organizer Joe Pulizzi managed to snag him but it doesn’t really matter — this is a keynote worth attending.
So far, the topic of Kevin’s talk hasn’t been revealed but if I had to guess it will touch on Kevin’s role in the Netflix-original House of Cards TV series and the way traditional media structures are quickly being dismantled.
3] The speaker roster is a who’s who of content marketing
The speaker lineup for this conference is epic, even if you don’t include Mr. Spacey. All the big names in content marketing will be there, including senior executives from Kraft, Facebook, Microsoft and Coca-Cola, thought leaders at smaller firms and agencies, bestselling authors and leading consultants.
These are just three of the many people I’m looking forward to hearing:
Scott Stratten, author of UnMarketing and QR Codes Kill Kittens
No one skewers sacred cows quite like Scott. The man always tells it like it is, delivering frightfully honest, deliciously hilarious and eminently practical advice. (Scott’s UnPodcast, by the way, is well worth a listen.)
Kristina Halvorson, co-author of Content Strategy for the Web
Kristina is another strategist who shoots straight from the hip. If her talk at Content Marketing World will be anything like this magnificent Go Home Marketing, You’re Drunk presentation she gave at SXSW, I’m in.
Doug Kessler, co-founder of Velocity
Doug is the creative director at UK-based Velocity, a firm that specializes in content marketing for the B2B crowd. He’s also the author of what are quite possibly my two favorite SlideShare presentations of all time: Crap – The Content Marketing Deluge and The Search for Meaning in B2B Marketing. Can’t wait to hear what he’ll deliver at CM World.
4] You get to go to Cleveland. In September.
OK, maybe this one isn’t such a draw. 😉 But the conference venue is just a hop, skip and a jump from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That’s something.
5] It’s dedicated to content marketing.
There are other great conferences throughout the year that touch on content marketing but this is one of the few where content marketing is the sole focus. With more than 80 sessions running on five tracks (B2B, B2C, content strategy, content curation, and search and social), you won’t find a better opportunity to educate yourself about content marketing.
6] It’s hosted by the Content Marketing Institute and Joe Pulizzi
The CMI knows content marketing backwards and forwards. And if the comments from past participants are any indication, they put on one heck of an event. Marketer Heidi Cohen says their “execution borders on perfection.” Bonus: You get to see Joe rock the stage in all his glorious orange. (His shoes are orange? Yes. Yes, they are.)
If you plan to attend, you’ll want to register now. Early bird pricing is still in effect but expires at the end of May. Use coupon code CP100 at checkout to knock an extra $100 off your registration.
Plus, if you register before May 31, CMI will tweet you a coffee from Starbucks AND enter you into a draw to win a front-row seat to Kevin Spacey’s keynote.
